Vice President, Sales & Operations
“We’ll do whatever it takes to make food service a bright spot in the student experience and a profitable piece of our client’s financial puzzle.”
As Vice President of Sales and Operations, Joe Scherer helps our clients achieve long-term success through worry-free food service programs. He also oversees all sales and operations functions within Pedestal Foods and our QDOBA franchises. With more than twenty years of experience in the food service industry, Joe knows first-hand what excellence looks like.
For Joe, partnership is everything. “No two relationships are exactly the same,” he says, “and we have to create our programs around those nuances and differences—backed by strategy and experience.” Whether it’s partnering with a franchise to round out a school’s menu offerings or adding value to a program with special details, Joe is committed to creative solutions that meet our clients’ unique needs. “Our programs will impact a school’s recruitment and retention numbers, and that’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly,” he says. “We’ll do whatever it takes to make food service a bright spot in the student experience and a profitable piece of our client’s financial puzzle.”
When we say Joe knows the food service industry from all angles, we mean it. He began his career as a trained chef, creating masterpieces on the plate long before he started planning to feed thousands of students every year. His restaurant leadership background gives him the industry-specific insights to create successful programs that work as well in the kitchen as they do in the dining room.
Outside of the Lumina Foods world, Joe is active in his local Catholic Men’s Group, and frequently shares his favorite quote from Saint Augustine: “Pray as if everything depended on God, and work as if everything depended on you.” Joe approaches each day with a strong appreciation for what God has put him here to do, and it shows. Joe is a huge fan of Disney parks and German soccer, you can find him donning mouse ears or cheering on Bayern Munich every chance he gets. Joe and his wife, Bekah, are blessed with four awesome kids, James, Isabelle, Gracie, and Maddie.
